Here you will find press information about our fair as well as downloads of picture material and logos. You can register for our media mailing list and get accredited for SPIEL. All information about our press conference, the novelties show, services on site and contact persons for all inquiries are also bundled here.

Press Conference and Novelties Show

For accredited media there will be a press conference on Wednesday, Oct. 4th in the foyer east of Messe Essen.
It will take place from 10 am to about 11 am. After the press conference the novelties show will open for media, exhibitors and business ticket holders.

Well-known illustrator creates cute ambassador for world’s largest boardgame fair

Bonn, Germany 27th June 2023. Everyone who knows SPIEL Essen has memories and emotions connected to it – and from now on a cat also comes to mind. Because from 2023 on, SPIEL will have a mascot to welcome the about 150,000 visitors from all over the world in Essen. Playful, curious, open, and joyful: the orange tabby kitten created by the well-known game illustrator and game designer Michael Menzel combines everything that characterizes the world's largest boardgame fair. Now a name is needed, which the fans of the fair will find together.

DEUTSCHER SPIELE PREIS 2023 – DIE ABSTIMMUNG IST GESTARTET

Bonn, 15. Mai 2023. Ab heute können Fans von Brettspielen mit ihren Stimmen bestimmen, welche Spiele beim Deutschen Spiele Preis (DSP) die meisten Siegpunkte einheimsen: Die Abstimmung für den größten Community Award Deutschlands ist gestartet. In den beiden Kategorien ‚Familien- und Erwachsenenspiel‘ sowie ‚Kinderspiel‘ wählt die deutschsprachige Spiele-Welt aus der Vielzahl in diesem Jahrgang erschienener Titel ihre liebsten Spiele. Bis zum 15. August kann über die Website www. spiel-essen.de/dsp abgestimmt werden, auf der SPIEL im Oktober wird der Preis vom Merz Verlag verliehen.

DIE SPIEL IN MODERNEM LOOK – NEUES LOGO UND NEUE WEBSITE DER SPIELEMESSE IN ESSEN

Bonn, 1. Mai 2023. Die weltweit größte Messe für Brettspiele, die SPIEL Essen, geht mit einem neuen Logo in die Zukunft. Es ist frischer, moderner und bleibt trotzdem seinen Ursprüngen treu. Die Tangram-Form und die bekannte Farbkombination lassen Brettspielfans sofort an die SPIEL, ihre Erlebnisse und die vielen Spieleneuheiten auf der Messe denken. Die neue Dynamik und frischen Farben des Logos stehen für den Weg in die Zukunft, den der Merz Verlag als Ausrichter der SPIEL mit den Fans gehen will. Gleichzeitig ist das neue Logo der SPIEL Essen ein klares Bekenntnis zur Stadt im Ruhrgebiet, in der die Messe seit 40 Jahren stattfindet.

Please note that we can only accredit media representatives who are reporting on SPIEL, events taking place during SPIEL or other content at SPIEL.

UNDER THESE CONDITIONS YOU CAN BE ACCREDITED FOR THE SPIEL:

1. You are a journalist with a valid press card of your country.

2. You are a journalist, photographer, cameraman or in a similar position and have an editorial assignment from a media that you can present to us.

3. You are active in the board game world as a content creator, blogger, YouTuber, Instagramer or publish on other online portals regularly and with a certain reach on the topic of board games.
